Vista T4 and T2 consoles are factory configured to boot from a USB device. However if a memory key is in the console at startup this can cause the console to hang, requiring a power cycle to clear. This technote describes how to change the BIOS settings to eliminate this issue.

Affected Product

All Vista T4 and T2 consoles up to and including B06XXX. Console manufactured with serial number C06XXX onwards have been configured to be unable to boot from the USB.

Tools Required

  • No tools are required.

Procedure

  • Power down the console.
  • Press the console On button
  • When prompted with the message “Press DEL to enter setup”, press the DEL button.
  • Using the keyboard cursor buttons to highlight “Advanced BIOS Features”
  • Press Enter
  • Using the keyboard cursor buttons to highlight “Second Boot Device”
  • Press Enter
  • Using the keyboard cursor buttons to highlight “Disabled”
  • Press Enter
  • Press F10
  • Press Enter

Console will restart with the USB boot capability now disabled.
