Application

This Tech note describes the procedure to change the BIOS Settings after the BIOS battery on the CPU tray has been replaced (see Technical Bulletin TBJLT118)

Parts Required

  • External monitor to connected to console
  • External keyboard for Version 2 consoles (not compulsory but may be of assistance.)

Procedure

  • Determine which console hardware version requires resetting (see Technical Bulletin TBJLT113)
  • Connect external monitor to the console, using the monitor outlets on the rear panel.
  • Using the power button located on the top right hand side of the tablet, power up the console.
  • At the beginning of the console boot up procedure, the words “Press DEL to enter SETUP”. Press the “DEL” key until the setup screen is displayed.
  • Once access to the Setup menu has been gained, scroll through by using the ?? arrows on the keyboard. To select a submenu, press <Enter>.

Version 1 CPU Settings

For version 1 CPU trays, ensure the following parameters are set to the status listed. All other parameters should remain at the default setting.

Load Optimized Defaults

Enter ‘Y’

Standard CMOS Features:

Time set to correct time

Date set to correct date

Drive A [None]

Halt On [All, But Keyboard]

Advanced BIOS Features:

First Boot Device [USB-HDD]

Second Boot Device [CDROM]

Third Boot Device [HDD-0]

Boot Other Device [Disabled]

Boot Up Floppy Seek [Disabled]

Advanced Chipset Features

Video BIOS Cacheable [Enabled]

Integrated Peripherals:

USB Controller [Enabled]

USB 2.0 Controller [Disabled]

USB Keyboard Support [Enabled]

USB Mouse Support [Enabled]

Init Display First [Onboard]

Onboard FDC Controller [Disabled]

Parallel Port Mode [ECP]

ECP Mode Use DMA [3]

Onboard Serial Port3 [3E8]

Serial Port3 Use IRQ [IRQ4]

Power Management Setup:

PWRON After PWR-FAIL [Auto]

  • Once these parameters have been set, press “F10”
  • The application will then display “Save & Exit Setup”. Select ‘Y’ for Yes. The console will then restart.
  • Version 2 CPU

    Load Optimized Defaults

    Enter ‘Y’

  • Once these parameters have been set, press “F10”
  • The application will then display “Save & Exit Setup”. Select ‘Y’ for Yes. The console will then restart.
